Hi Everyone,

Me and Shiels headed down to Strongroom on Wednesday to record some B-sides for the next single, Wide Awake. We're thinking about doing a cd release and maybe even a limited edition 7" vinyl with only 200 available or something like that. There aren't any details about the single yet, but it'll probably be late January or early February.

We had a lot of fun recording these b-sides because they were brand new and everything we did was off the cuff and without any pressure. There may even be a few little surprises in there when we finally get them on myspace. They're all pretty simple as we had 1 day to record and mix 3 tracks as opposed to the album when we spent a day recording and a day mixing each song! The songs to look out for are:

'The day I woke up old' - Another chance for Shiels to take the lead vocals. It could even be thought of as a bit of a passenger seat part 2.

'Chemicals' or 'Electric Driven mind' (undecided on the name) - Just a little song that got taken way further than we'd imagined but we're really happy with the way it turned out.

'The Whole of the moon' - A cover of the Waterboys classic and one of my favourite songs ever. It's just me and an acoustic doing my own interpretation, let's face it, you can't better a tune like that. I loved playing this song on the living room tour and hopefully I'll have a chance to get it in a few sets in the near future.

I'm sure we'll see most of you at gigs during these next few months so see you soon!

Oh and a bit of gossip for you... our drummer John got married today!

Mezza :)

That sounds something to really look forward to! :) I adored "The whole of the Moon" on the "Living Room" tour. :D

By the way, is that the drummer with the tattood arms? I wish him all the best! :)

No wonder it's been a bit quiet here lately. That's fantastic news all round!

I was hoping 'The Whole of the Moon' would end up on something, I've always loved that song.

Oh and, congratulations to John. :D

So that's what you do when you're not entertaining us lot! Sounds like you had a really good day on Wednesday. Like you say, a different approach to recording. And, as always, new tunes make this lass excited! :D

...and as for John. Well congratulations to the lad and new Mrs John. Ever so happy for the both, much luck to 'em.

Awesome! Will be something to look forward to!
I was going to ask if Wide Awake would be the new single when I saw it was the song you guys put on that Sixtyone site. Does that mean that the artwork for it is the one on there too? I though it looked really nice! The colours are good :)

And congrats to drummer John :)

To start off, here's what Adam has posted so far about the single on twitter https://twitter.com/mesh29

18th December: Alex Lake sent over artwork for Wide Awake single today & it looks sweet. Just need to get the mastered cd now - It's taking ages!

29th December: The masters for the Wide Awake single arrived in the post today so should be able to get cracking with cd production very soon

7th January: Wide Awake single goes to press today and we have a release date - will announce it very soon!

As Adam revealed in the Camden Barfly thread (please don't post this elsewhere for the time being):

ps. March 2nd is the release date for Wide Awake - it's between us for now but I'll be posting it everywhere along with tour details next week :D
