At the age of 13 the 2 founding members of mesh-29, Adam Mezzatesta and Anthony Shiels, had already began what would become an extensive songwriting partnership. After starting on the pub scene at 16, things soon took a turn after they were taken on by their first manager, Bernie o'Mahoney. This gave them the confidence to concentrate on their songwriting and live performance but it wasn't until they signed to AMS management in 2005 that things really took a turn. They started work on their debut album, Dead Machine, and began their regular Met Lounge nights in home town, Peterborough. A year later and these nights had grown from nothing to sell out gigs of 230 people. The popularity of mesh-29 grew after being chosen to be a featured artist on myspace.com in early 2006. The band now have over 60,000 myspace buddies. Later that year they were also featured in the NME as part of their search for the best unsigned bands.

In March 2006 they embarked on their first UK tour playing with the likes of Blackbud, The Crimea and Mohair across England, Ireland and Scotland. Come September, they felt there was a need to add drums to the live sound. Having previously worked as a session drummer on the Dead machine album, Dave Jackson went onto become an official member of the band, replacing original drummer, Lee Reynolds

In October that year, the band became restless with their label and decided that they should go it alone. They parted company with their management and bought the rights for their album, setting up their own record label, Media Addiction records.

In January this year they were voted 2nd in Core Radio's search for the best new music of 2007. Just pipped by Mika and beating the likes of The Fray and The Klaxons.

A few months later, they recorded their debut single ‘Over the Barricade’ at Strongroom in London. Released through their own label, it went on to reach number 35 in the UK top 40 and number 22 in the Independent chart on July 8th. This was largely due to their loyal online and local fan base. The single received support from Janice Long on Radio 2 and the band became regulars on Mike Mendoza’s Talksport show.

Following the success of their debut single, the band became front page news of the Peterborough Evening Telegraph and even appeared on BBC look east after becoming the 2nd unsigned band to ever reach the top 40. They were recently asked to support Air Traffic at a special Kerrang gig at Birmingham Barfly on August 10th having already played with Scouting for Girls earlier on this year.

More recently, the track, ‘Alone’, was used on the soundtrack to MTV show, ‘The Hills’. Clips can be found on Youtube.

On August 28th they played a live session on the Janice Long show on BBC Radio 2. In January 2008, they are to begin recording their second album. (read less)
